Age of Empire 4 is the fourth latest installment among the Age of Empire series. The graphics and mission are improved but the bugs and crashes are still there.

Users are complaining that AOE4 memory crashes occur telling the players that they are out of memory and disk space.

Don’t worry if you are also dealing with out-of-memory errors. These are common and here in this article, we have explained the working solutions to fix them

How To Fix Age Of Empires 4 Not Enough RAM?

To fix the Age of Empires 4 not enough RAM error first, you will need to lower the CPU and RAM usage. Follow these steps.

1. Upgrade Your PC RAM

AOE4 is known for its memory leak issues. That’s why it is recommended to have 8GB or more RAM. Although developers mentioned 8 GB enough on Steam it’s always good to have spare memory.

2. Disable the Steam Overlay

If you launch Age of Empire 4 on Steam, you might have enabled the overlay.

The Steam Overlay allows players to access their friend’s list, web browser, chat, and in-game purchasing. At that same time, you can also see in-game lag.

Follow these steps to disable the Steam overlay.

  • Open your Steam.
  • At the upper left corner is the Steam drop-down menu.
  • Click on Settings and a new window will appear.
  • Navigate the In-Game tab found on the left side.
  • Uncheck the box for Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game and then click OK.

3. Close All Background Apps

The more apps you run, the more RAM space will be used. The more space is used, the slower the loading time of your PC will be.

If you have started playing games while running Discord or other apps running in the background you might see AOE 4 crashing issues.

4. Prioritize the Game Through the Task Manager

Using the Task Manager you can allocate more memory to a chosen process. By doing this more resources will be reserved for AOE 4 which will help you prevent not having enough RAM or being out of memory.

5. Manually Increase paging memory

If you are seeing Age of Empire not having enough available memory issues it’s because the Windows page file is getting full to the size of the virtual memory page file.

Although, Windows 10 automatically manages the Pagefile according to the computer’s configuration and the RAM present in it. However, if you ever face lagging while playing a game or starting it.

You need to manually increase the limit from 20GB to 30 GB. Follow these steps to do it:

  • Right-click the Start button to open its context menu.
  • Then click on System > Advanced system settings.
  • On the System Properties box, ensure that you are on the Advanced tab.
Click the Settings button from under the Performance section.
  • On the Performance Options box, go to the Advanced tab.
Click the Change button under the Virtual Memory section.
  • On the Virtual Memory box, uncheck the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives checkbox.
  • From the available list, click to select the drive on which Windows 10 is installed. (C: in most cases.)
From below the list, click to select the Custom size radio button.
  • In the now-enabled fields, type the minimum and maximum size of the Pagefile in megabytes (MB) according to the physical memory present in your computer.
  • Click Set and then click OK.
  • Restart your computer when you’re done.
