It can be challenging to predict which team comps will be the most effective in Marvel Rivals because there are 33 distinct characters and three distinct roles for each character. Your team must decide how many characters of each archetype to utilize because there is no role queue in the game. Because certain character class combinations are much stronger than others, this can get complicated.
In Marvel Rivals, team compositions are best categorized by the number of Duelists, Vanguards, and Strategists on a team. For instance, all three character classes are evenly distributed on the same team in a 2-2-2 stack. As of this writing, there are considerably more Duelists than any other character, but none of them are very noteworthy on their own to alter the most effective team comps.
How to Choose the Perfect Team Compositions with Duelists, Vanguards, and Strategists
It is important to note that a character’s strength is not reflected in their ranking for team competitions. In Marvel Rivals, you may have a comp consisting of S-tier characters, but their roles might be so lopsided that the team’s cohesiveness suffers.
The most well-liked team competitions in the game at the moment are included in the following table along with their relative strengths:
Tier | Team Comp(s) | Team Comp Breakdown |
---|---|---|
S | 3-1-22-2-2 | 3 Vanguards, 1 Duelist, 2 Strategists2 Vanguards, 2 Duelists, 2 Strategists |
A | 2-1-33-0-3 | 2 Vanguards, 1 Duelist, 3 Strategists3 Vanguards, 0 Duelists, 3 Strategists |
B | 2-3-11-3-2 | 2 Vanguards, 3 Duelists, 1 Strategist1 Vanguard, 3 Duelists, 2 Strategists |
C | 4-1-2 | 4 Vanguards, 1 Duelist, 2 Strategists |
D | 0-4-23-2-1 | 0 Vanguards, 4 Duelists, 2 Strategists3 Vanguards, 2 Duelists, 1 Strategist |
F | 0-5-11-1-4 | 0 Vanguards, 5 Duelists, 1 Strategist1 Vanguard, 1 Duelist, 4 Strategists |
The best team comps have the best balance between each character class. It will be far more difficult for fewer Strategists to keep Vanguards or Duelists alive if there are too many. However, selecting too many Strategists may impair your team’s ability to deal damage or defend, making defeating opponent heroes and villains impossible.

The best team comps always feature multiple Strategists, allowing two helpful characters to sustain teams. Since they can hardly ever maintain themselves when the load is placed entirely on them, this role is too significant for one individual to perform alone. Two support characters and the rest of your team can survive together if you have another Strategist.
Which Team Composition Is Best & Why
The 3-1-2, which consists of three Vanguards, one Duelist, and two Strategist characters, is the finest team configuration. Having three Vanguards gives you access to various characters with large health pools and typically self-sustaining skills that extend their fighting lifespan. In Marvel Rivals, for instance, Captain America’s ability to sprint allows him to get to health packs on the map swiftly.
Everyone on your team can be healed by two strategists in the interim, freeing them up to employ additional helpful techniques. This combination is powerful because it allows Strategists to perform more than heal, as demonstrated by Mantis’ stun and Rocket Racoon’s revival device. Aspiring teams may attempt to avoid Duelists completely by using a 3-0-3 stack, but hazards are involved.
Since Duelists typically deal the most damage of any character in Marvel Rivals, you should have at least one of them on your squad. In this team competition, only specific Duelists are employed; mobile or self-sufficient characters are favored. With this team competition, some possible character combinations are as follows:
- Aggressive Dive Team – Venom, Captain America, Peni Parker, Spider-Man, Jeff the Land Shark, Luna Snow
- Defense/Control – Groot, Doctor Strange, Magneto, Moon Knight, Cloak & Dagger, Rocket Racoon
- Pure Survival – Hulk, Thor, Doctor Strange, Star-Lord, Mantis, Adam Warlock
Outside of these sample teams, other combinations might result in success. Even the strongest stacks fall apart if no one agrees, thus it is important to always strive to coordinate and communicate with other players to succeed, regardless of the team you are on. In Marvel Rivals, having the greatest team comp does not ensure success if your squad does not have the same objectives.
