In Path of Exile 2, your Hideout serves as your haven and a key resource that you will use often as you progress through the endgame content. The Hideout is essentially a completely customizable, always-accessible town, with every crafting station that is possible in the game, a variety of merchants, and any décor you choose to place. However, it is more than just an interior design exercise; it is essential to some endgame features, such as the Atlas of Worlds mapping system that you will use to move around and advance.
You must unlock your hideout before you can begin to gain from it. By the time you reach the endgame of PoE 2, it’s difficult to overlook this simple process. In Path of Exile 2, this is all the information you need to unlock, acquire, and manage your hideout.
How to Unlock Your Hideout in Path of Exile 2
When you finish “Legacy of the Vaal,” the primary quest in Path of Exile 2, you will be told to go back to the Vaal Ziggurat and talk to Doryani about what to do next. When you do that, Doryani will show you the Atlas of Worlds, which is essentially the ending map for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds 2. To gradually rid each area of corruption and finally save the world, you must eliminate all foes from the different nodes on the globe. But you’ll need a home base first.
You will be prompted to select a node to begin with following a brief overview of the Atlas. As seen in the above image, look for the nodes that have blue fleur-de-lis emblems; these could be your hideouts. You will eventually unlock other hideouts, so don’t worry too much about the location when you choose one. Before you can claim your chosen map node as your own, you will need to teleport there and rid it of monsters.
Your hideout is yours in an instant. You can then begin navigating the remainder of the map, advancing the Atlas and removing nodes. In between combat encounters, you will periodically return to your hideout (and unlock new ones) to update your equipment and dump loot. Additionally, you will eventually adapt and personalize your hideout to your preferences.
How to Change Your Hideout’s Location and Map
You can simply use a Waystone to activate a new Hideout node on the map and then beat the foes there to change the location of your Hideout. In essence, your hideout is transportable and will show up on any hideout node that you have successfully taken over.
How To Change Your Hideout’s Map & Tileset
To alter the visual appearance of your hideout, you must explore the Atlas to unlock several hideout types. As you eliminate more Hideout nodes, you’ll discover that some of them have maps that differ from others. Right now, there are four different kinds: the Shrine Hideout, the Felled Hideout, the Limestone Hideout, and the Canal Hideout.
Speaking to Alva at the hideout and selecting the “Select Hideout” option will allow you to modify the map of any hideout once you’ve unlocked a node of a different type. Additionally, each of the four Hideout maps may be customized separately, and you can quickly swap between them to alter the resources at your disposal.
How to Customize and Decorate Your Hideout
Now comes the exciting part: personalization. Whenever you are in your hideout, you can click on the arrow at the bottom of the screen to modify it. In the editing menu that appears, you can drag, drop, and rotate NPCs, crafting stations, and décor like that of The Sims. As time passes, you might be able to add more NPCs or things to your hideout.
Tip – After it has been opened, you can use the map or the chat bar to enter /hideout to retrieve your hideout.
As long as you have all the materials you need on hand, you can furnish your hideout any way you like. If you would like to speed up the process, you can also save your designs and import them automatically to subsequent hideouts. When they discover a new Hideout, gamers usually have one or a few layouts prepared and ready to go, switching them out as needed.
That gives you all the resources you need to open your hideout and begin personalizing it. Although there aren’t many design possibilities available right now, more designs should be released in later releases throughout Path of Exile 2’s early access period.
