How To Fix Oculus Quest 2 Mic Not Working on Windows 11 PC

Oculus Quest lets you play solo and multiplayer VR games. Quest 2 has built-in Microphones that help you enjoy party chats while playing games on PC.

You can start an in-game chat with your friends. You can connect with friends from Discord or VRChat or simply play games on Steams.

Fix 1. Restart Oculus Quest 2

Start with the simplest thing which is to reboot the hardware that is causing issues. For that:

  • Press and hold down the Power button on Quest 2 until the shutdown screen appears
  • Select Restart
  • Once your headset has rebooted, you can try the microphone again to see if it working.

Fix 2. Unplug and replug your headset

  • Plug the headset into your PC and enable Oculus Link.
  • In Windows search box type Voice and click to open Voice Recorder.

You need to check the audio input and output for your Oculus Quest. Follow these steps:

  • Open the Oculus app on your computer.
  • Click Devices in the left-hand menu, then select Quest and Touch.
  • Below Audio Output in VR, make sure that your Quest is selected.

  • Right-click the speaker icon appearing in the taskbar and Open Sound settings.
  • Under the Input section, choose Headset Microphone (Oculus Virtual Audio Device) from the menu.
