As you progress through Path of Exile 2, you can unintentionally begin the “Ancient Vows” quest, which can be challenging to finish once you locate it. This quest, which gives you only ambiguous directions, requires you to figure out how to use one of two Relics that you can find in various places. After learning how these Relics function, players can give their character a permanent buff that will strengthen their build.
Gathering the Sun Clan Relic or Kabala Clan Relic while traveling initiates the “Ancient Vows” quest automatically. Finding the other half of this artifact collection should be your initial objective since these relics are connected. In Path of Exile 2, you can get a new passive skill that you can use on your character indefinitely once you have both.
Ancient Vows Relic Locations
If you just fight the enemy in the places where they drop, you can find either Relic. Because basic foes in both zones where they spawn will ultimately generate either artifact, you don’t need to defeat a boss to obtain either one. These locations contain the Relics:
- Kabala Clan Relic: Keth
- Sun Clan Relic: Bone Pits
Upon obtaining any Relic, you will be prompted to examine the item you have acquired as part of the “Ancient Vows” quest. The description that appears when you do this says, “Notches in the side awaits a connection,” which suggests that whichever Relic you uncovered has a twin. Knowing this, you can begin searching for the other Relic once you know where to look.
Retrieving a Relic from the enemies in either area might be challenging or simple, depending on the Path of Exile 2 character type you’re using. It will be difficult to fight enemies who might drop a Relic if you are under-leveled, especially if there is no assurance that a monster would do so. Before an artifact drops, those searching for either Relic might have to combat swarms of monsters.
How To Use The Ancient Vows Relics
After obtaining both Relics, proceed southwest of your map to the Valley of the Titans. The time it would take to walk and battle through various opponent groups can be avoided by using the waypoint that is connected to this area to fast travel.
Around the Valley’s Waypoint, there should be a modest shrine with a medallion on a raised pedestal. To finish the quest, place both relics into the medallion. Your character will then be presented with a choice between two potential bonuses. Only one of the two available buffs can be selected when the medallion is activated, so you must think about which will be most effective.
The two buffs you are offered are:
- 30% Increased Charm Charges Gained
- 15% Mana Recovery From Flasks
Both of these character-boosting effects are permanent, so they won’t disappear during your playing. You only get one chance to select the boost you desire, though, as the buff you don’t select is permanently lost.
Best Ancient Vows Buff To Use
The class build you’re using determines which “Ancient Vows” boost is optimal for you. For instance, the Mana Recovery benefit can help restore magical resources for players in Path of Exile 2 who are making equipment for a spellcasting build. You may be able to overcome strong opponents, even certain bosses if you can drink a Flash and recover a lot more Mana to perform more spells.
Out of the two boosts, the Charm Charges bonus suits more builds, which makes it somewhat superior. You can gather charms, which are accessories that offer defensive advantages in combat, such as resistance to particular kinds of damage. Your chances of fending against particular conditions or damage from your adversaries increase with the number of Charges a charm possesses.
Tip – The majority of charms can be used one or two times before using up all 80 of their charges. Depending on the item, you can raise the amount of times a Charge triggers to three or four with the Charm Charges bonus.
The Relic bonus you select should be the one that most closely matches your particular character setup. In Path of Exile 2, players who locate and finish the “Ancient Vows” quest should consider their character’s present skill set and determine which bonus would be most beneficial over time.
