A new skill system has been added to Path of Exile 2 as it enters early access. PoE 2 won’t be content-poor, but it will remain in this early access stage for roughly six months. Enjoy three complete acts in the early access, and there will be a ton of new content available before the final debut. One of the largest drawbacks is that only six of the twelve classes—many of which are the strongest Path of Exile classes—are playable at the moment. But throughout the next six months, these additional classes will also start to appear.
Although the initial PoE skill system was straightforward, it felt restrictive. Although Support Gems and Skills were slotted into gear, this restricted the player’s gear options and slot polarity. Although slots could be altered using in-game resources, doing so required more effort and time. Fortunately, PoE 2’s primary distinction has made that simpler and less restrictive.

How To Get Skills In Path Of Exile 2
In PoE 2, you can equip up to nine distinct skills using the streamlined Skill Gems menu. These Gems can then be altered and added to the Hotbar. Holding ALT will also allow you to read every impact, which is another way to analyze skills. Additionally, passive skill gems that don’t require insertion into the Hotbar can be placed here.
Your weapon skills will also be displayed on this page because some talents are specific to a particular kind of weapon. You can access certain talents by equipping the wand, for instance, as wands have a defined base of skills that are exclusive to them. Leveling up a spell may become challenging as a result, but finding a strong weapon will reward you.
Killing bosses, looting chests, and finishing quests will yield skill gems, whether they are uncut, cut, or support. They can be used to level up a skill to the gem’s level or to take up a skill once you’ve obtained it. A level-one skill gem cannot pick a high-level spell, even if your level permits it. This is because a skill gem can only pick a skill that is at or below its level.
How To Upgrade Skills In Path Of Exile 2
Support Gems are used to upgrade skills in PoE 2. There are two support sockets for these gems in each skill, but Jeweller’s Orbs can eventually expand that number to five. The Support Gems have polarity, but these spaces don’t. The stats of your character determine how much of each type—Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence—can be employed. Each stat adds a Support Gem slot every five points.
On the specified skill, each Support Gem will have a unique effect. These have a number of effects, such as increased debuff, decreased cooldown, or increased damage. However, certain Support Gems could have disadvantages like as additional cooldown or higher cost, depending on the impact.
Path Of Exile 2 Has Perfectly Simplified Skills
PoE 2’s skill system feels so new in comparison to its genre rivals. In contrast to most games, it allows players to employ eight at once and gives them a wide variety of options. Without having to worry about trying to manage armor slots, equipping talents feels easy, even in comparison to its predecessor. Even in this early access stage, it is a significant improvement, albeit there might still be some bugs to iron out.
If this system has a drawback, it is that Support Gems are not as advanced as they may be. The proper configuration can have a significant impact, and they continue to operate effectively. But it feels a little lackluster in comparison to a game like Last Epoch, which manages skill upgrades using a separate skill tree for each skill. If nothing else, this is a small quibble that doesn’t significantly diminish PoE 2.
Overall, this series has improved in many ways, and this new method is just one of them. It also allows for an almost infinite number of different builds because any class can use any skill as long as the right weapon is equipped. The potential of these upgrades is evident even in PoE 2’s early access status, and it will only grow when more material is added, giving Path of Exile 2 a far better skill system.
